I have always had a problem with AAC audio on my WDTV Live streamer, turns out it does not support it!! duh!! Well anyways I have a task at hand and I dont know where to start. I need to do 2 things, in the easiest most reliable way possible lol.

    1) I have MP4 Video with AAC Audio, I need to keep the video exactly as it is, but just change the sound to AC3, how can I do this?
    2) Once I manage to do the above, I then need to hardcode .SRT subtitles into the video!! How??

I have tried for over 2 years on and off to hardcode subtitles, but always end up with sound sync problems when I manage it. This time, not only am I dealing with .SRT again, but I need to convert sound also, this is a disaster waiting to happen, if someone knows how to do the above, your a godsend, because I just dont know where to start lmao.

MP4 containers with AAC audio is definitely a supported configuration by WDTV. I only have the ability to test 2 channel AAC audio (the only MP4 files I have use 2 channel audio - sorry, but it's not anything I deal with much) but it definitely works. Maybe there are other weird problems with your files and you are just assuming that audio is the problem or maybe multichannel AAC is not supported or your player is simply defective, but you really should not be having to convert the audio here.

Avidemux, open video, under audio choose ac3, save as new mp4. you can also use it to hardcode subs but it require video reconversion.

But if your mp4 contains variable frame rate then give up.
