I',m looking for a recommendation for a good upconverting DVD player.
I had been using a Philips 5990 for upconverting SD DVD's.but recently I've been using a Toshiba HD-DVD player and the Toshiba's image quality is far superior. The Philips plays with some artifacting, motion problems and some random combing. None of these artifacts appear when played on the Toshiba. But the Philips has some features I'd like to keep. It has memory recall of the disk,it remembers the point you stopped play and resumes play from that point. It's also region free and plays PAL disks.

I never see those problems with my 5990.
