Hi!
I have a small project that I'd like to get up and running but I'd like some advice before I go ahead. The plan is to simultaneously stream 4 TV channels across a LAN with ~200 computers.
Here's what I thought I would do:
- Run a 4 way TV splitter/amplifier from an external antenna
- Get a fast enough computer (Quad core ~3.5GHz???) with 4 separate TV tuner cards installed
- Stream each channel using a RTP multicast in VLC
I have small-scale tested something similar, but only with one channel and running on a much slower computer. So all I can safely say is the VLC encoding/streaming across the network works a treat!
I'm after advice about any problems I may run into, as well as recommendations for TV tuner cards and any additional software that will make my life easier.
Thanks!

If transcoding of the streams isn't necessary, then you might want to take a look at the Unreal Media Server software in the Tools section. It can handle multiple tuners and RTP, and comes with a variety of client interfaces.
