    Hey everyone,

I am having a problem that is driving me crazy. I have material i need to edit with crossfades and all that so i have turned to Premiere Pro CS4 as i did a couple of years ago. Now, much later i can't remember the correct settings to get high quality H264 output?

I installed the latest x264vfw and used the default settings, but i get no image, just sound. So i turned over to Virtualdub and tried it there and i have no problems at all -- so what's wrong with Premiere? I would do everything in Virtualdub or Avidemux but i really need those crossfades. Now i have tried almost every setting imaginable in CS4 to get picture without luck so has anyone else been in a similar position?

The clip is 1920x1080p, 24fps, 192 kbps audio coded in Fraps codec.

    Thanks,
    Krister

You could try use Debugmode FrameServer and frameserve to virtualdub, etc and encode.

Thanks Baldrick but to be honest i don't understand how frameserving works. I downloaded and installed the program, started the frame serve as i exported the clip. Frameserver started.

I then opened the same file in Virtualdub and selected Start frameserver. A small dialog window appeared and that's about it. I had an option to stop serving at either end but how does this work anyway?

Right... i sort of got it to work with Virtualdub but the quality after i compress looks really gray and dull. Also, the video is a bit choppy. When i frameserve into Virtualdub the initial video looks crisp and clear however.

It's strange that Premiere has such poor export with bad quality. I have tried every single setting there is and every codec at my disposal. I have tried uncompressed... nothing works, everything looks like crap to be honest. =(
