    This just started happening.

When I play a clip encoded with the DivX codec, it plays with the DivX watermark throughout the whole clip (not just the first five seconds). I've gone into the decoder settings and the box for showing the watermark is unticked. This happens in both MPC-HC and WMP but not in the DivX player or in Virtualdub.

Is there a setting in the registry to keep the watermark from showing?

Went into G-Spot and changed merit for DivX Decoder Filter to Normal and it fixed the problem. Not sure what happened to push the merit all the way to the top (or what caused the watermark to show when it was turned off). I have XviD set to decode DivX.

My first option was to tick the internal DivX decoder in MPC-HC and although it worked for MPC-HC, it didn't in other players. I don't like to use internal filters in MPC-HC if I already have them on my system. This can cause problems also.

    1) What version of DivX have you installed?

    2) Except for H264 decoding, why use DivX, to begin with?

  4. Uninstall Divx. Use Xvid.

  5. Uncheck this in the divx codec settings:

For me it works in all players

I'm using DivX Plus 8.0.1.49 with DivX 6.9.2.

Since I've finally gotten the "Codec" column to show up in Windows Explorer, I'm not uninstalling anything that might cause it to disappear. Besides, there are times when I do need to use the DivX encoder over the XviD codec. Coincidentally, I just uninstalled and reinstalled the XviD codec which may have had something to do with this phenomenon that just started happening, out of the blue. It's been a while since I've updated DivX.

cd090580, I mentioned in my first post that I had "Show DivX watermark on Video" unticked.

Thanks. The last DivX I used was the 6.8.0.14 one.

For using the DivX encoder in VirtualDub, I needed just the following files:

    DivX.dll

    dpl100.dll

    dpl100.dll.manifest

    qt-dx331.dll
