I have a at&t Uverse box that I have connected to my Sony dvd recorder. I have connected the output of the recorder to my standard tv. I use composite cables or s-video cable, either one. Some of the channels will record without an additional device and some won't. And I don't mean just the "premium channels",either. I also mean the HISTORY CHANNEL, DISCOVERY CHANNEL, TRU TV, etc.
I am hard-of-hearing so I need a device that MUST allow the closed captions to be recorded.
I tried a GREX, and it worked for about 30 minutes, then the cc became scrambled and eventually disappeared altogether. On the tv the cc always shows up, but not on the recorded dvd. ( I have worked thru email with the GREX company but they have replaced the unit once and are all out of ideas).
I have been reading on the forum where people suggest using a TBC, like the TBC-100 or the TBC-1000. But no one mentions whether a TBC will block the closed captions.
Has anyone tried the TBC-100 or the TBC-1000 in similar conditions???
Thanks
(I am not recording for commercial purposes, but only for my personal library.)
