For the last half hour or more, I haven't been able to play any videos on YouTube. I get an error message that an error occurred and to please try again later.

The problem happened right after I joined YouTube. I knew I shouldn't have joined but it was the only way that I could get the videos to open in 720p instead of 360p.

I assume that Google owns YouTube because now my e-mail address is at the top of the Google page. Anyway to get rid of this crap and revert to where it was working 45 minutes ago?

Well, I assumed that I could have an exception set for YouTube cookies and it would log me in and play the videos but I guess not. I have to set cookies now for the videos to play. I didn't need to do that before joining the site and setting the options to play higher quality video. It still won't play HQ until I hit full screen which makes it a pain for trying to download the higher quality video with Replay Media Catcher.

I wish there was an easier way to play the higher quality videos by default.

  6. I can play 720p 1080p and have never been a member.... Clear your cookies and cache firefox tools > clear recent history last hour restart firefox.

  7. add &fmt=22 to the youtube URL link and it will automatically open the 720p version if it's available

you can log out too, if you think that being logged in is causing this behaviour

I don't have a problem playing them it's just that you can't get them to open in HQ by default unless you change the settings (and the the settings don't look like they do in the help files). You have to be a member to change the settings. I was hoping to save a step or two by changing the settings. As it is, I have to open the page, delete the video that is downloading in RMC, open the video in full screen to get it to play in HD and record in HD.

poisondeathray, I'll try adding that to the end of the url. I tried adding something that looked like that with something else added on and it did not work.

I think it was &fmt=22&fmt=6 or something like that. I googled it.

It doesn't work for me. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. It works, it's just a pain. The option in settings doesn't give me an option to open in the highest resolution. It only gives me an option for full screen mode. In the help files, there's supposed to be an option to open at the highest resolution according to your internet speed but there is no option for that.

  10. I have your solution : you don't need an account just get firefox if you don't have already, download greasemonkey (best addon) use this script :http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/31864 picks highest resolution and auto buffers, you can tweak to your need.

I found out my cookie problem also. I was using www.youtube.com for the exception in firefox and I removed it and added just youtube.com and the videos now play without having to enable cookies in firefox.

I had tried 4 or 5 different exceptions that I got from the forum but none of them worked.

I don't remember seeing a way to download videos from the page before but since installing the plugin, there are a bunch of different options for downloading a video.

    This is a Home computer.

I had no problem playing youtube videos before joining the site but after joining, I had to use cookies to access the videos. I did not have cookies set so the videos would not play. I tried to add an exception for www.youtube.com so that I could watch the videos but it did not work. I could access the site and it showed me as logged in but the videos would not play. After a lot of investigating on google and trying different exceptions for cookies in Firefox, I finally found one that works and now the problem is solved.

The address for cookie exceptions in Firefox for youtube is youtube.com.
