    I have Video Studio 10, I need to capture files from a Panasonic MiniDv camera, via firewire. Will the capture via firewire automatically set the optimum setting? Or what would be the highest quality capture setting to use.
    I need to edit afterwards as well.

    don't use it. only use windv to capture from minidv tape. then import the files.

    Capture as DV AVI. That will essentially copy the DV data from the tape your PC, wrapped in an AVI container.
