  1. Sorry but i am really such a nOOB in this area of film editing.

I have 24 .avi files of a TV old classic ( well classic for me ) show. The Total folder weighs in at 4.5 GB.

Can i use ffmpegX to glue/stitch those 24 .avi files and output the results in DVD format ( AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS ) playable on my Mac or TV/DVD player ?

If yes which TAB in ffmegX do go to please ?

To join AVI files, you may go to the Tools tab, then select the Join sub-tab. Use the Browse buttons to select the first and second AVI file, then click Join to start the operation. You can only join two files at a time, so you you may have to repeat this several times. It is also important that each AVI was originally encoded with the same settings, or strange things may happen at a transition point. Be aware that old style AVI files have a 1 GB size limit, and I'm not sure if the joined AVI is OpenDML (AVI 2.0) at all times.

Perhaps it is a better approach to convert each AVI to DVD (.mpg) first. You don't need the VIDEO_TS folder now, just the intermediate .mpg files (you may uncheck the Author checkbox in the Options tab). By converting, the output file size will be different, and this way you can see more easily when you reach the 4.36 GiB/4.7 GB limit for several clips to fit on a DVD-R, and use the rest for another disc.

If you have Toast, then you can let it create a nice navigation menu for the DVD compliant .mpg clips, so you can access each clip individually, as well as play all.

  3. Thank you very much.
