Hello
My friend has given me 5-6 DVDs of highlights from soccer games that he wants me to edit to make him a compilation video.
I have never edited a DVD before so I assumed you have to go EXPLORE DVD then the VIDEO_TS folder. In this folder is about 5 VOB files that I assumed I could just copy and upload into Windows Movie Maker. This plan did not work though as WMM did not accept .VOB files. So after a lot of researching and downloading of useless programs, I converted them to MPEG form and uploaded them into WMM.
But now, instead of each video being ~20minutes in length, they are around 30 seconds! The odd thing is, that If I manually slide the timebar to the '15 second mark'. It will actually go to the '10th minute mark' and play for 5 more seconds before stopping. If that made sense...? :/ lol
Somebody suggested downloading VOB2MPG but it didn't change anything.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks
- Steve

There is a guide for VOB2MPG at the bottom of the main page:

Stop messing with the individual files inside the VIDEO_TS folder. You need to convert them to one, large MPEG file in order to edit correctly. -
WMM won't work.
TDA would find the entire set importing the DVD - but it's not free.
Womble MPEG2VCR can load the .vob files - not free, and you may or may not get each video file in it's entirety.
VirtualDubMod can read a .vob file from an unprotected DVD. It's a powerful tool, and allows editing - and it's free.
You'll have to learn, read the guides - I haven't used it enough myself, and couldn't answer questions as to how.;/ l ,[____], Its a Jeep thing,

thanks for the help. I read the guide (not sure what IFO vs VOBSET) is though, but I tried IFO and it came up with an error halfway through. I then tried VOBSET mode and it successfully converted 1 VOB file (the first half of the match) into MPEG and now I can edit it!
but I can't seem to get it to start extracting the 2nd file :/ -
no matter! The DVD was corrupted for some reason. I had another copy and tried it again and it works!
thanks for the help -
