    Hi,

I have a 720p Samsung LCD + LG HB 954 PB Blueray Homecinema and a lot of videoclips in different formats from previous camera's
    (640x480 30fps AVI + 1080i MTS AVCHD + 1080p MOV)

For Christmas i'm going to save for a blueray recorder for my pc to make a compilation of all the videoclips of my daughter from birth till 3 years old.

1> With which program can I convert easily all my videoclips to a 720p blueray disc ?
Converting avi to 720p, will this be much artefacting, or would better I stay with the original 640x480 quality on a 720p LCD?
2> Is Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas,... or freeware recommended, which one accepts a lot of different formats and is user friendly?
3> Do I just need to add all clips one after another, decode and burn?
4> Is the lastest Nero capable of something?

    Thanks!

Thanks and any other paid packages?
Would the quality be the same with this freeware tool as Adobe premiere or other paid packages? Only a bit limited due to no menu possibilities,... ?

If you are committed to the idea of converting to 720p you should be aware that some BluRay players have problems with AVCHD discs at this resolution. Yours may or may not but you might want to test it first before you do a lot of work on this.

I would not recommend converting 640x480 AVI to 720p or 1080i/p. You will see a lot of artifacts if you do that.

  4. Get yourself a WDTV live media streamer .. then you will be able to play all these files with
    NO conversion,
    NO loss of quality
    No loss of audio sync.
This will work out cheaper than buying and learning (and then failing to get adequate results), difficult software packages,

Actually almost any of the big name media streamers will do this (ACRYAN, OPLAY, Popcorn HouR BOXEE BOX) at a price of about 80 euros or less.
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

This is not the problem, I have my HTPC connected to my HDTV, everything plays directly live
The reason I want to make a blueray disc is to give it to my grandparents + to have a personal backup on disc also (next to hd)
We all have bluray players now, so time to use them!!!
