I am able to put forced subtitles on the movie on my iPad but two things I didn't like -one is that the hard subtitles do not have the option of turning it on and off and the subtitles and the fonts were too big. On the Nook, I have not been able to add subtitles or even the artwork for the movie cover.

I use handbrake to change format and recently I been using Subler.

Just for people wondering how I do it: download handbrake and you google settings for putting movies on iPad and Nooks. And Subler show me how to get artwork for the movies but I have not figure how to add subtitles or add SRT for subtitles.

If anyone knows a simple way to do put soft Subtitles on my iPad or my Nook , I will greatly appreciate it.

YOu don't need to. You can do soft subs with handbrake from the get go.

Simply select forced subtitles if that is what you are doing. Don't select BURNED IN - that will give you hardcoded subtitles that aren't selectable, those are burnt into the video.

This is a bit of an older version of handbrake but the terminology should be the same.

for a nook what you need to do is to use a different mediaplayer. mx player supports file + .srt subs. the nook beta of vlc should also.

or if you have one of those players, you can just use the original .mkv as those are supported also.

if it's the nook hd or hd+ you can use the latest arm7 android build

    http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/

if it's some other nook you'll need to know what type of processor it has.
