Hi,
Just bought a new el-cheapo DVD player... decided not worth expensive one cos IME they don't tend to last any longer. But this one, I neglected to notice before buying is not region free. It will only play region 4 DVDs and the seller says they don't think that can be changed. It's a Base DV-2301 if anyone can tell me how to find if there's an unlock code for it??
So the player will play none of the DVDs that I've copied from the HDD of the old player/recorder(Medion). The seller told me it was because they would be a different region(??). So I thought I'd go thru my computer with a dvd authoring program to reformat them.... alas, even tho they were tried & tested on the original player, the contents is just not recognised at all by my computer - it just doesn't come up! I've then tried to see what's what on a friend's dvd player/recorder & they come up as 'no disk'. Can anyone tell me what may be wrong & how I can possibly get to see/edit/reformat the disks so I can watch what's on them??

It sounds like you never finalized your DVDs on the old recorder.

I have no idea if your particular recorder can be unlocked, but do note that some DVD players/recorders cannot ever be unlocked.
