  1. This is the first time I've gotten an AVCHD folder like this and the actual concert stream file is 7 or 8GB which means I can't fit it on a USB for my PS3 and I don't know how to convert it to anything except an .ISO to burn Dual Layer but my burner is broke. I want to retain the a/v quality and the menus but I've never edited AVCHD, let alone BD9 AVCHD, folders. I put the info from the CERTIFICATES folder below and you can see Title 1 has the entire stream, there's also a Title 0 which I'm assuming is the menu. The other folder is BDMV and I can list all the files from that if it helps anyone looking at this, I'm just completely lost, don't even know what program can show me what the .bdmv, .mpls, or .clpi files do, though since there are only two of each I assume they just refer to the stream files. Someone please help if you can.

you could try using multiavchd to convert to a bd5. it won't retain the original quality but nothing can if you cut the file size in half.

your other options are buy a new dvdr-dl burner for about $20 or a 16gb usb stick.

  3. I have a bunch of 16+GB USB sticks, it's just that for the PS3 there can't be a file larger that the FAT32 limitations. I don't want to compress it down, I thought there'd be a way to split the stream into chunks (like one for each song) and then have a way to look at whatever file directs the menu links to know where to chunk it out and link at those times.

On another note, where do you see DVDR-DL for $20? I'm working on a laptop so I'd need an external or to make an external

Yes. There is a volume split feature in multiavchd when you are at the output screen menu. You will still output to playstation 3 format so you can load it onto a memory stick but there is a VOLUME SPLIT feature available.

It will split it into 4gb chunks. I don't have a capture larger than 4gigs to give a definitive test of the feature. However that should be exactly what you want.

You should be able to load the video on the main page then on the output page (after hitting start) choose the volume split and the 4000mib option and then continue on to output for the playstation 3 output option (the very first choice).

How it plays I don't know. I don't know if it will be seemless or not. Perhaps somebody else here has experience with it.

FYI there is an option in the "fit all" tab on the main screen to compress your video to fit onto a 16gb memory stick if you do want to compress (obviously there will be quality loss and will take time to process). But you can split it to skirt the fat32 issue and that should not take much time at all as long as you are leaving the video as is - again though I have not done the splitting previously so I don't know the process.

  5. so, with multavchd will i be able to read the menu links? i've done split volumes when I made the entire thing myself, just never re-edited a premade one and it does play seamless. i just want to keep the existing menu and time links (which when split, will obviously need edited to each new stream)

@tge101 - as I have said I haven't done a split. I have either used a dl disc or reencoded to a lower file size to fit on a dvdr.

You will have to experiment with the program to find out exactly how it responds on the output.

But the option is there for you to use in multiavchd.

Perhaps others can give real world experience - I am just reading off the settings options in the program itself. I have used it many times for other projects but not for file splitting.
