because that is the day main concept introduces their cuda accelerated h264 encoder at the nvidia tech conference:

they have a nice pdf with some performance comparisons and supposedly using a gts 250 (a card that costs about $100) it encodes faster than an i7 980x (6 core, 12 thread cpu, $1000) and because speed is nothing without quality they have a comparison showing that the psnr is almost the same value for the 2 encodes.

when you consider how many apps license main concepts encoder, such as tmpg express, this should be great news for most members of this forum.
