Hi. New here. I've been looking around for some kind of list of blu-ray movies with known problems playing with certain players.

I have a Memorex MVBD2510 (cheap, old, lame) and it seems like more and more, newer Blu-Rays aren't working with it. I've looked into firmware updates, but Memorex hasn't released one since September of 2009. Mostly I use my player with blu-rays I get from Netflix, but more and more I'm getting movies that aren't working and I have to return them and get the DVD version instead. I'd like to circumnavigate this if at all possible, with a list of movies that are already known to have problems on some (particularly older, cheaper) players, so that I'm not having Blu-Rays sent to my place that are known to not work with my player (or similar players).

I figured something like this would already be out there, but I haven't been able to find one.

I've had problems with the following Blu Rays:

    - Surrogates (I forget the exact problem, it was one of the first)
    - Avatar (the movie hangs for a second, and pops up the chapter title every time it moves onto the next chapter)
    - The Wolfman (the menu would load, but I could never get it to play the movie)
    and most recently
    - The Book of Eli (It played the previews, but hung on a black screen while music looped. I'm assuming maybe it was stuck loading the menu, but nothing I ever did would move it forward)

    Thanks.

Book of Eli hung in two players, one of which had no firmware update available.
The other one was so slow to download that I gave up.

I've stopped renting Blu-ray now, because of this.
I want to watch it when I rent it, not spend several hours troubleshooting. Unreasonable.
