  1. I work at an accounting firm and some clients sent us a video (yes.. VHS) that they'd recorded from an episode of a news/current affairs show. We mailed it back once we'd watched it, but Australia Post lost the video.

They really need this, as they are going to court and this tape contained all kinds of useful information. On the current affairs program website I found the video available to watch online. However, there is no actual link to the video itself. When I click on the link to the page, it opens up a page with several videos. When I click on the one I need, it doesn't actually open a program to play it in, it just plays it on the website.

    Here's the web address http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/special_eds/20100614/debt/
The video I need is at the top left corner with a picture of the American Flag and the word Play.

If there's anyone here who knows how I can save that video to my computer to burn, I would really, really, really, reallllly appreciate it.

    Thanks!

    Lucy

first let the video play all the way thru
then, try going into your tools>internet options>browsing history>settings>view files
click on the size tab to sort by size - your video should be the largest size
copy to desktop and change the extension to flv if it's not that already

  3. Depending on how much this video is really needed, one could try this:
    http://download.cnet.com/Camtasia-Studio/3000-13633_4-10665109.html?tag=mncol;pop
    or possible this: http://download.cnet.com/Easy-Screen-Capture-Video/3000-13633_4-10288385.html
I do not know if either will work for that video as the website has taken steps to prevent the unauthorized use of the videos.
Of course, they may give someone permission if asked in the proper manner.

Yes, hopefully StreamTransport will do the job.

So your clients mailed your company the ONLY copy they had of a videotape and they never thought to make their own backup copy such as on DVD? And your company didn't send it back via some sort of trackable method? Granted, trackable methods do not totally ensure that packages can't be lost, but still, it should reduce the chance.

While Stream Transport will probably work, the results might not be accepted by the courts. Just have one of their attorneys contact ABC News and ask for a copy. They are usually more than willing to accommodate a request like this.

  7. We did send the video registered post. The problem was that Australia Post never scanned the article in the first place. So the tracking number isn't much use.. Thanks. I'll Have a look at StreamTransport.
