Hello guys. I'm new around here. Well, newly registered. I always read your guides posted here, download apps, etc. Thank you a lot for that!

Well, came here for some help. I wasn't able to find what i want to do.
Also, sorry if it is the wrong section.

    To the question now.

I have a DVD I want to backup. The problem is that it does not have a DTS which the other version of the DVD has.
The movie in question is Terminator 2. I have the Ultimate Edition (which has the DTS track) and the Extreme edition.
I want to "mix" the DTS track in the Extreme Edition, because the video quality is WAY better.

Now, the problem is that the Ultimate Edition runs at 29 fps and the Extreme edition at 24 fps IVTC. Hence, the Ultimate Edition is "longer" and the track won't sync with the Extreme Edition.

Is there anyway to do what i want to do without any conversion at all?
I'm whiling to give any info you may need.

    Thank you!

    PS: Sorry my bad English.

No, they both output 29.97fps. If they don't synch up that's not the reason. The reason is probably that they're 2 different lengths, one having different or additional content, and there's no way to use the audio from one version in the other version.

    Hi.
Thanks for taking your time on answering.

But, not, they are the same. The Ultimate Edition has 3 edition on it, the Theatrical, the Special and the Special Extended.
The Special is in the Extreme Edition and I watched them both (Special from both DVDs) the same day and they are identical. But the running time of the Ultimate is a little longer (1 minute longer, the run time is 2:33:02 for the Ultimate and 2:32:32 for the Extreme)
I think the problem resides some where else.

    What do you think?

  4. You'd think that the Special Editions on both DVDs would be the same length, wouldn't you? There's only a 30 second difference so perhaps the movie portions are identical and the only differences are in opening logos or end credits or logos. If so, then there's a chance you can fit the DTS track and only have to adjust the delay. You'll have to figure out though, exactly what's different between the two versions.

There's another factor to consider as well, and that's the bitrate of the DTS track. I assume it's 768 and not full bitrate, but there's a chance that it, combined with the video, combined with the subtitles, any other audio you keep, and the muxing overhead, that the combined bitrates may go over the DVD limit at some point, and it can't be authored. There's no real way to tell until you try.

Well. I've tried (using Vegas) to sync the movie with the sound (using the AC3 track from Ultimate). But i sync 3 seconds of the movie and everything else is not on sync.
So, i don't know what is happening.
Also, the logos, the movie and the credits are the same.

Damn Van Ling! I hate you! :P

The Authoring part doesn't bother me, because i plan to keep only the movie, menus and the DTS track and also a custom subtitle.

    Thanks for your time.
