I purchased a Xoro HSD 8550 last week, which is working quite well. Especially the USB connection comes in handy, since I don't have to burn AVI or MPG files to a DVD disk anymore to play them on TV; just copy them to a USB stick, and plug it in. This works fine, however, I didn't manage to open subtitle files along with the movies. SRT and SUB files are not recognized on the USB directory. Does anyone have an idea how this might be worked around? I now render the subs into the AVI files using Virtual Dub, but it takes hours.
Maybe converting the subs to yet another format would do the trick?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

You could try AVIAddXSubs and make a .divx (or just name it .avi) and see how it works.

Not likely since SRT subtitles are text based and quite possibly the easiest subtitle format to support. Something like 3 different and incompatible subtitle formats use SUB to describe themselves, so the problem can be getting the correct kind of SUB subtitles if you want them to work.

Anyway, it's good that you found a solution and I post this only for the benefit of others who may find this thread in the future.
