Hi, i've currently got an Panasonic 42" LCD in my bedroom, which i'm very happy with but i'm looking at investing in a 42" Plasma with my flatmate for the livingroom. I've been looking at the Panasonic NeoPDP plasma (as linked) and wanted some advice on this if anyone has any - otherwise I guess I'll go for it as i've had no previous problems with Pana.
Our livingroom isn't huge - could probably handle 46" rather than the 42" but I noticed the 42" had more connectivity options than it's larger brother. and connecting to a HD PC is a big selling point too...
The one in my room is great but I quite fancied having a plasma too. Are the extra features worth it, or should we just get another LCD?
Thanks,
Jake

There has been a lengthy ongoing discussion about the Panny models on the avsforum site. They prefer the G models over the S or U models. They're also concerned about the black level become lighter pre-maturely because of Panny's aging algorithms.

Mostly agree with this. It may depend on how critical you are, and what you're willing to spend. Costco has had P and S models, Best Buy has had the U. I've seen 'em all, and -- for me -- the PQ is just plain not good enough. The G is a major step up, in that regard (good enough to meet my standards), and unless you're willing to spring for their Pro series, I'd say it's the way to go. The downside is as you mentioned, which may or may not be a real problem, and if it is may not necessarily afflict a majority of these sets. Connectivity options don't look to be lacking, to me.
Unfortunately, there are very few players left in plasma. Vizio does not impress me much, other than on price. Samsung has a poor customer service rep. LG ? Uh, don't think so. I'm afraid it's Panny by default, even in the shadow of this black level thing, which the company seems to be shining on with its customer base.
I've been there and done that with LCD. Not going back anytime soon, certainly not for those better but overly pricey LED jobs. (And I don't much like Sony as a company.)When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form. -

Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.
