Hello,
i use the ifoar2ws tool a lot because my A110 does not interpret my dvd's correct.
all media is in 16:9 format but because some ifo's specify 4:3 it will only display at 4:3
is it possible to make a new IFOAR2WS which will convert everything(also the menu's)
again this is needed for a lot of dvd's like diego, dora little einstein and other kid dvd's.
it also would be nice if it could modify dvd's in iso format.
now i first havre to mount them, change files, copy everything to hd and then recompile to iso
thanks

ifoar2ws doesn't actually convert anything. It just alters the aspect ratio details in the ifo file to be 16:9. It assumes that you have 16:9 assets to begin with. In your case, you have 16:9 video tagged as 4:3, but you have 4:3 menus. To alter the menus would require dismantling them, resizing them, re-encoding them and re-authoring them. The biggest issues are the aspect ratio of the sub-pictures (all the menu item highlights) which would have to be resized for 16:9, and the fact that 4:3 menus can have more menu items than 16:9 menus. So you can see that it is not a simple flag issue like the video is.
The issue isn't the software, it is your hardware. Have you been keeping the firmware up to date in your A110 ? A firmware update released in February 2009 seems to address this issue : http://www.popcornhour.com/download/A110/01-17-090226-15-POP-403.htmlLast edited by guns1inger; 13th Jul 2010 at 09:02.

no al the material on the dvd is 720:576 including the menu's
they did this so the dvd will correctly display on both 4:3 and 16:9 tv's
the problem however with the A110 is that it reads the ifo file
if it reads 4:3(but the A110 is set to 16:9) then it adds black bars on the sides
if it reads 4:3(but the A110 is set to 4:3) then it displays full screen(but you do not want this because then al the 16:9 material displays in letterbox
if it reads 16:9(and the A110 is set to 16:9) then it displays full screen.
the A110 i have actually has newer firmware
the firmware you point out is what is causing the problem
al the firmware before was ok.
they changed this in favour of the 16:9 output.
so basically my dvd is completely 16:9 material but they set it to 4:3 in the ifo
a real dvd player has no problems with it
the A110 however does -
If0ar2ws only does ifo files. if you want to get into the VOBs (and you are sure the material really is all 16:9) the DVD Patcher is the next tool to try. I don't know anything that works on ISO files though.

Since there is no 16:9 material, but only widescreen 4:3 material, then that's how it's supposed to play. If, for some reason, you want the widescreen stuff to fill the screen, then use the zoom if the TV set or your A110 have one.
the problem however with the A110 is that it reads the ifo file
IFOs can easily be changed using PGCEdit. Not ISOs, but with the DVD on the hard drive. -
you are right.
one problem however
zoom does not work when you are playing dvd's or iso's
sure it will zoom but the visible area will stay the same. -
Then your other option is to rip the disc to your HDD, run it through DVD Rebuilder using the 4:3 Letterbox to 16:9 conversion, then use Imgburn to create an ISO of the new disc (DVD Rebuilder may be able to automate this step for you). This will give you a true 16:9 movie (not sure if it will convert the menus for you though)
