  1. Hey, guys,

wonder if you can help me out here, Iīve been having USB issues for almost a year now but never bothered with it til just this afternoon when I finally got fed up.

Whenever I try to transfer files to my pen, it takes forever.
A measly 200 Mb file takes half an hour to transfer, whereas the exact same computer used to do it in few minutes just 2 years ago.

Can you help me out here?

    Pretty please?

    Windows XP home edition
    PCACPI
    ati radeon HD 4770
    Intel duo core E6750
    USB 2

Are you sure it's in USB 2 mode? You can check in Device Manager and under the USB header, look for a 'Standard Enhanced' controller. That's USB 2. And I assumed you have tried other USB sockets? Since USB controllers are part of Windows, no external drivers are required. You could try uninstalling the USB controller, then reboot and let Windows reinstall it.

If none of that works, a few more ideas here: http://www.usbman.com/Troubleshooter%20General.htm Or this from MS: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310575

If still no luck, you might look into a USB PCI card if you have a spare slot.

  3. Make sure you're not connecting through a USB 1.x hub.
