Deinterlacing when going from MPEG-2 to WMV

Hello all- I'm having problems exporting to WMV from MPEG-2. The export works, but the wmv files have bad deinterlacing artifacts.

I need to go from MPEG-2 at 50Mbps CBR, 720x480, 422 Profile/Main Level, I frame only to WMV9 at 1Mbps CBR, 720x480, Simple Profile/Main Level. (I experimented with some of the existing exporter plugins and did find that when I tried the 640x480 WMV exporter plugin there few to no deinterlacing artifacts.)

What is the best way to do this with Edius 5? Just an FYI- we used to do this with Edius 4 and Procoder without any issues.

Why not use Avisynth ++ WmNicEnc ???
