    Hey everyone.
I just received a JVC HR-S9800U that I bought last week. The seller said it was working alright and it was laying there with no use for a while.
I tried two tapes on it with the same artifacts. But I have no idea what could be the problem.
I made a sample capturing with WinDV and converted to MPEG2.
Tried diff settings on the JVC menu and always get the same result.
Can anyone download the file and take a look?
    Thanx.

    Nevermind.
The problem was the THREE tapes (I tried another one after this thread) I tried.
Tried with a professionally recorded tape and everything is alright.

Glad to see that you sorted it out. That is one rough looking video.

Now I need to know how to treat this tapes. Cause I'd like to capture it.
I don't know if cleaning it would help.

Well, here is a sample of the tape that was good watching on TV.
Please tell me your impressions about it.
I'm using the composite output (will be using svideo later).
The settings on the VCR are the same lordsmurf suggested a couple of days ago to someone here in the forum. Video calibration ON, Picture control AUTO, Digital R3 OFF, Video stabilizer ON, TBC/DNR ON.

The tape was recorded in SP mode and my ADVC110 is set to NTSC and 7.5 IRE.

The MPEG2 file was created on Premiere using standard MPEG2 NTSC DV High Quality settings.

    Me again
Just tried the tape from the first sample on an old Philips 3522 VCR.
It plays fine. There are no big blue spots like the ones from the first sample.
Any idea of what could be that?
