  1. I have a panasonic dvr-520h. I just burned two dual layer dvd's of home movies from my computer. My panasonic wont read it, is there anything I can do to make it readable. Also is there and dvr dvd burners out there that read and burn dl dvd's and are a decent price

Did you use Verbatim Dual Layer discs and burn with Imgburn ?

If not, you are just throwing away money

  3. Although not directly addressing your problem discs: Must you use DL discs?

I've never understood the economics of SL vs. DL for video such as home movies that can just as easily be burned to SL with minimal hassles.

DL's are 5-10 times as expensive, don't play well with many burners and players, quality discs limited almost exclusively to Verbatim, etc., etc.

With SL discs so cheap, I'd tend to burn such things as home movies at least twice, with each copy burned to a different manufacturer's disc, just so I don't have just one copy of something important. Cost: about US $0.25 per disc, with a very low "coaster" probability vs. DL.

    Just a thought.

  4. I actually use both, I did use verbatim but had to convert it then used another software program. I only use them as one set of movies as the kids like to watch them but don't really know how to change the disks then menu play in dvd mode etc. The main thing, is my dvd panasonic dvr-520h able to read them or isit to old a player

  5. Hmmmm . . . . I don't see that brand/model number in the forum's section on "Lists" in the upper left corner of each page.

There's a Pioneer with that model number . . . . but not shown as DL-compatible at all.

  6. I didn't think it was, but wasn't sure if there was a firmware update would change it and be able to read dl.
