Do you want to capture SD or HD?

    Cheapest thing? How cheap?

Does your MacBook have a firewire port? If so, do you have a camcorder? Which model?

Most Mac capture devices use a Firewire port. You are limited to USB2 solutions.

See Elgato. Most current model capture devices include SD/HD tuners.

Note that to capture standard definition from an XBox360, the XBox needs to be set to standard definition output.

You would cable it up as shown in this video but substitute the Elagato EyeTV Hybrid or Elgato "Video Capture" for the Easycap and the Mac for the PC. The Elgato stick comes with a breakout cable for composite capture.

To use the easycap you would need to replace the Mac with a Windows PC. The video shows the cabling you would need to use with the Elgato card.

Just hire a XBox360 + Mac geek from your local high school.

First, I am strictly a Windows user, so I know Mac stuff only by reputation.

Some people are using the EasyCap DC60 with a Mac for capturing games https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/324092-Easycap-problems-please-help!!
You could try to PM the originator of the thread for details, but this seems to be what he is using on the Mac http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/32004/easycapviewer with this $8.00 capture device

If you want to take a chance on the EasyCap, you could try it and see what happens. Although any of their solutions would cost considerably more, ElGato has a much better reputation.

The $70 Elgato is designed for Mac and has good telephone support.

The easycap is primarily supported for Windows. Mac drivers exist but have reported problems.

    Elgato Video Capture

    EasyCap DC60
Try to find one with MAC drivers included.

    Here's your geek tutorial.

I would probably go with something from Elgato. The Elgato devices are a known quantity and I think success is a more likely outcome with one of their products. They are good quality, made to be used with a Mac, and the software provided is supposed to be good.

The EasyCap devices are a gamble. People are attracted to them because they are cheap, and they do work satisfactorily for some users.

The link I gave is only for the Easycap DC60, which seems to be the most common. ...but there is more than one version of EasyCap on the market, as well as some fakes. The problem is different versions of the EasyCap need different drivers. Sellers usually don't provide good information in their ads, so is hard to know what they are offering. Some ads do claim Mac drivers are provided, but I can't say how good they are.

I'm not sure what you are asking for, but this is the manufacturers page for the Elgato Video Capture device
    http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/Video-Capture/product1.en.html

Here are links for the same at couple of major e-retailers

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/625264-REG/Elgato_Systems_10020840_Video_Capture...SB_Analog.html

Here is a sample of the video produced by the product. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJDbPkXnFrU

It looks like Elgato provides Mac compatible capture software too.

If you are asking about finding the EasyCap DC60, websites often don't show the specific model number being offered for sale. The DC60 seems to be the most common one, but, there is supposedly a DC60+ too, and maybe others. That is one of the reasons why buying one for a Mac is a gamble. I don't know offhand who sells a Mac-compatible model.

There aren't a lot of Mac capture devices available to choose from. The Geniatech One Touch Video Grabber/ iGrabber for Mac and the Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac are the only two others I have seen. I found little information available about them regarding what you want to do.

I can't garantee anything, but it looks like a couple of vendors at Amazon's US website may be selling the DC60 for around $8.00, listed as the Easycap USB Video Capture Adapter by Sabrient.

I found out by sifting through the user comments. A few reviewers say in some recent entries that they received a DC60 and were able to get it working with their Intel-based Mac using the EasyCapViewer 0.5 driver for which links are given in this thread.

Amazon appears to have a listing for the DC60+ too. This is the manufacturer's page http://www.ezcap.tv/ This is the Amazon listing: http://www.amazon.com/EzCAP116-Camcorders-Recorder-Satellite-playstation3/dp/B003YGJLW...1113075&sr=8-1
...but Mac-compatible software for it would need to be purchased, which would bring the total cost closer to the price of the Elgato Video Capture.

While looking for sources, I found another reasonably good video tutorial demonstrating how to connect everything, which I forgot to add earlier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IAIaqahBgA
