    Greetings,

I have been out of the loop for a little while....

I just bought Verbatim DVD -RW.....2x...... I am using the good old DVD Decrypter version 3.5.4.0 to burn my .ISO files and the max speed for those DVDs is 2x.

Is there a way to get more speed to write on those DVDs an .ISO file? I am all or using another free ISO writer software if I can write faster.

    Thank you

I would strongly advise against that. If you really need to burn faster, Verbatim makes +RWs that are 8x, and you can get one for about $2.

Is that the speed printed on them, or the speed that DVD Decrypter reports?

    Most DVD-RWs are 4X, some 8X.

If a burning app doesn't know about a specific variety of disc it falls back to a slow, safe, speed.

Try ImgBurn, more up to date, and see what speed it is capable of.

The disc header information lists all the allowable speeds, the drive reads it and passes the information to the writing software. This is why the speeds aren't always the same in the writing program. When newer burners come out, sometimes they can write some media faster.

Using Nero Infotool you can see the burn speeds for the disc and what speeds the drive can write it at.

You can update your burner's firmware and see if that changes anything.

You're not going to like what I have to say, but I don't care. You need to hear it anyway.

Exactly how often do you need to do this where speed is so critical to you? If you're doing it more than once a day, why are you burning to DVD-RW anyway? You do know that DVD-RW is NOT in any way designed for long term storage, right? Even if you leave a burned DVD-RW in storage, it will eventually break down and become unplayable, perhaps in just a few years.

Even if you have to burn at 2x, is there some reason why you simply cannot find time for this? Do you not eat? Do you not go to the grocery store? Do you not take showers or baths? You're telling us that you simply cannot find 20 to 30 minutes out of your life to let the discs just burn at 2x? I have no sympathy for you.

  8. LordSmurf, for your "Give 'em", I'd substitute "Go to."
