Sony Vegas 8 issues

This is slightly odd, I have sony vegas 8 and for some reason it will no longer play some of my files when it used to. I can hear audio, which I couldn't before, but I can't see the actual footage anymore and I'm not getting that stream attributes error so it should play. The videos that won't play are MPEG-4. I also just recently updated my Quicktime player but I tested the files afterward and everything worked, now for some reason they're not anymore.

Any ideas as to what went wrong?

you aren't the first to have this problem with quicktime. uninstall it an go back to an earlier version, or quicktime alternative.

think of it as another special gift to pc users from apple.
