    I have Lame mp3 + MPEG Layer-3 audio codecs installed. Using Virtual Dub I want to encode audio with the following setting.

    20kbps with sample rate of 32khz.

    But I dont find this option. I even tried "Show all formats" but no use.
    How do I do custom setting of audio encoding in virtualDub

    To use with VirtualDub, you need ACM audio codecs.
    Do you have LAME ACM installed?

    Hi
    These are the bitrates that lame uses:-
    bitrate
    ================================================== =====================
    -b n

    For MPEG-1 (sampling frequencies of 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz)
    n = 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112, 128, 160, 192, 224, 256, 320

    For MPEG-2 (sampling frequencies of 16, 22.05 and 24 kHz)
    n = 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112, 128, 144, 160

    For MPEG-2.5 (sampling frequencies of 8, 11.025 and 12 kHz)
    n = 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64
    Read about it here:-http://lame.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/lame/lame/USAGE

    So you can't encode at 20Kbps with sample rate 32KHz using lame.

    Hi
    When you select the 32Kbps bitrate lame will use an appropriate sample rate.
    It's possible to force a 32KHz sample rate when using lame from the command line (--resample 32) but I don't know whether VirtualDub will allow that.

    You can force 32Khz sample rate in VDub in Audio>Convert but the lowest bitrate at 32Khz sampling frequency I was able to select for LAME ACM was 48kbs and that was not even stereo but mono.
