this is a new one to me.. been using ati's all in wonder radon in my gateway 750mz 512 ram system
used sefys tool to modify the capture format to 1.15 bit rate for vcd worked excellent here's the rub... went to capture yesterday as i always do (transferring home video via composite to vcd) except this time the record button was greyed out for some reason (later i found out that the button next to it (acts like pause live tv) was pressed which greyed out the record button... but alas i went ahead and reinstalled everything...
now i get frames dropped from 5% in vcd to 30%+ in the mpeg2 best quality.. prior i got 0 dropped upto the best quality which would drop less than 1% frames...
nothing else has changed except the resinstallation of ati, then i uninstalled and went to site and got latest drivers for xp, ati mmc7.72 ect
and same thing happens frames dropping..
please help...
yes i know about other programs none open..ie i have been doing this a while with 0 frames lost after reinstall something changed and frames being dropped.
thanks in adavance and great to have boards back!!

I´ve had the same problems, last time I had to reinstall windows and I installed all the old drivers/and MMC 7.1 that came with the card to get back to the good old config... I think that the last time I had the problem was because I installed DirectX8.1... If you find a solution please let me know ..

yes,
i consulted with ati and told them i thought the latest update was the culprit (for my machine not that it is bad) and i wanted to go back by un/reinstalling from disc however my guess was that the newer update wouldnt allow old drivers to be overwritten... i think i was right, i got step by step to completly remove ati (rededit and the like) then reinstalled from disc and i am back in biz.. working exactly the way it was then ran sefy's mmc modifier to bring bit rate to exact 1.15 for vcd and whamo i am where i was before so i do suspect the new driver package AND MY COMPUTER didnt mix too well (only running 750mz with 512 ram)
if you contact me directly i can fwd the steps from ati..
i drop 0 frames vcd/customvcd/good/better
less than 1% dropped on BEST quality.
hope this helps
