  1. I recently installed PowerDVD 4, but didn't want it anymore. I uninstalled it, but it left MPEG Audio/Video drivers called Ligo. This has affected almost every video player on my computer. Only Micrsoft Media Player will play MPEG files, and all third parter applications tell me "MMSYSTEM128 This file could not be played. Check the filename or install a driver that supports this type of file."

Everything was working fine before I installed PowerDVD. How do I restore the original Media Player MPEG drivers. The Ligo drivers are awful, because they are so slow. The video playback of regular 320x240 mpegs shutter constaintly.

    Thanks.

  2. That's not possible, CyberLink doesn't use Ligos Codecs in their software, they use their own codecs, try checking any other software in your system.

  3. I'm pretty certain the codecs were installed by PowerDVD. I've had this problem before with version 2.5. PowerDVD might not use the Ligos codecs, but it installs them for Media Player so you can play MPEG-2 files within' Media Player and all third-party video players (premiere, cleaner 5, etc, etc).

  4. Trust me on this one, PowerDVD does not install Ligos Codecs, i've had PowerDVD since v2.0/2.5/3.0 and now 4.0, and it does not install Ligos, if it had, it's playback quality would have been the worst.

If you have some sort of realtime mpeg capture program, it might have come with that, alot of capture programs install Ligos, but in no way it was PowerDVD, it has it's own Codecs (claud.ax/clvsd.ax).

  6. In that case, check all the .ax files in the Windows\system folder, and use the properies to see who made what ,and when you get to Ligos, unregister, and then delete them.
