I have a problem with over 100 video files. They are downloaded using Flip4Mac mac plugin from stream content. Back in those days (1 and a half years ago) it was the only way I could imagine to download them to my computer. The problem is that they worked on my older mac comp, but not with new one and I haven't found a single app (neither mac nor windows) that plays them. They contain a video stream with WMV3 but are stored in a writing library of Apples Quicktime.

So the question is, how could I save the stream and pack it with other writing library so that it's playable. I wouldn't like to do any encoding to over 30 gigs of video files since it just worsens the quality and I think it's not even necessary. Below is a MediaInfo information of one of the files. I have also included that particular episode in megaupload-link. The content is completely safe kids' cartoon, Moomins.

I hope someone can help me out and maybe make me a brief howto.

The basic Flip4Mac WMV decoder for QT has been licensed by MS. Flip4Mac still has more full-featured decoder or encoder/decoder plugiins for SD and HD each. This may be what you need.

Note that ALL these are meant for Macs only! Nobody on PC would presume to put WMV3/WMA2 streams INTO a QT container, since Windows natively understands the WMV container.

If you got the encoder/decoder plugin, Perian and MPEG Streamclip (for Mac), and I'm pretty sure you'd be able to at least re-encode to something more commonly acceptable in a cross-platform format. You might even be able to demux the WM streams to RAW and then remux into a WMV container, which would be the best possible option, quality-wise.

    Good luck,
    Scott
