  1. I have an old TV series that I want to rip out to individual shows in .avi format so my friend can watch them on his computer who lives in a different DVD Region (otherwise he could just borrow my DVD's)

    Anyway my question is this.

    Im using AutoGK

    1. On each DVD there are VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_5.VOB.....Do need to rip each .VOB file individually or will selecting the first one get the video data from all the rest?

    2. Whats the best way to split up the individual shows after the DVD has been ripped.

    Thanks for any help

    The easiest solution to you delimma would be to rip it to iso instead of vob and then use fairusewizard to convert to individual episodes.

  3. Each episode is not one complete VOB file. Use DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode to decrypt each episode to its own folder before then adding each to AutoGK.

    If the entire DVD is already on the hard drive, use PGCDemux to 'Create A PGC VOB' of each episode which AutoGK will then accept. The important point is that each episode must be separated from the whole DVD before giving it to AutoGK to encode.

    Assuming this is a legal process: Why couldn't you rip it with DVDfab and remove the region? Wouldn't it play on a computer if the region coding is removed? Using a computer DVD player, the video format would not matter - it would just fit within the screen in a program such as media player classic, correct?

    OR - Is you FRIEND wanting something that would play on their Region 2 (example) DVD player?

    If it's larger than DVD5 you can always shrink it, or burn to DL media.

  6. Hi there. Have almost the same question.

    I have the complete Friends DVD collection and a SAMSUNG LE651 with an external HD, which I can connect directly to the TV using USB. I want all the seasons on my HD, with x264, sub-title, MVK and I want to be able to set the output size. I know that there is a guide for this, but I can't find it anymore. There aren't any legal issues in my case.

    Could someone help me out?

    Thanks in advance.

  7. I'm using Handbrake and subsync and everything works like a charm. MKV> x264+AC3 with seperate SRT. To bad that there are no Friends Blu-ray's available.

    This is what I did:

    tools: Handbrake / Subrip / mkvtoolnix (mkvExtractGui-2)

    1- open Handbrake and import DVD;
    2- select episode;
    3- set audio to AC3;
    -optional (3.5- set output size and save configuration. I used 250mb per episode)
    4- add sub;
    5- add to queue;
    6- import next episode and repeat steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 until ready;

    Conversion took me approx. 5 minutes per episode.

    7- open mkvextractgui-2 and extract the sub(s);
    8- open subresync and import the sub;
    9- save as .srt and type the characters according the OCR;
    10- open text-editor with dictionary and correct words;
    11- name the sub(s) like the .mkv and you're done.

    Time-consuming, but it works fine.
