All copies are region free. Region free does not make it "worldwide playable".
A UK disc will most likely NOT play in America.

The ripped disk, while region free, will still be PAL video format.
It will be playable on any PC - but perhaps not on a North American NTSC standalone.

I'm not sure what difference it makes, whether they are/it is a movie or tv series.......
Okay, yes, i am sure, it makes NO difference....

Region has nothing to do with FORMAT!!

If they are R2 dvd's odd's are about 99.9% they are PAL format!!

And if you are in an NTSC format area, but who could tell from your "location"
The format is the problem, not the region.

But then you do not state whether you are trying to play them back on a standalone player or a PC.
Although a SA player would give a problem and not a PC.....

Bottom line, you need to give WAY more specific details......

Hehe, the Japanese might be surprised to hear that as they're also R2, but NTSC. Since North Devon isn't in Japan (but in southwest England, victoriabears), the chances are still pretty good it's a PAL DVD we're talking about.

Yeah, i know Japan is also region 2 and NTSC but seriously, you know 99.9% of people talking about R2 dvd's are in PAL format
Because a lot of people confuse format and region or don't realize there is a difference.

I have a few R2 dvd's that are from Japan and in NTSC, but about 50 from Europe/England that are PAL
And a few from Australia that are PAL and R4, ect ect ect....
    LOL!!
