I am soo confused. Soo many people have problems with the AVCHD (.mts/.m2ts) format.
I have a Canon HF10 (1920x1080) and just edit the files with the program that comes along with the camera. ImageMixer.
YES, you cannot do very advanced things but you can add text, transitions etc and then save back to .mts format or burn to DVD.

WHY does eveyone need to convert the files to mpeg/avi etc. The only reason I can figure out is if you need to burn to a disc.
My popcorn mediaplayer plays the native .mts file, all my computers etc.
Is my assumption correct? Also in conversion you lose quality vs .mts . correct !?

If you would recommend a great program to edit native .mts and fast conversion as well.
I have an Intel Quad 9350, 4GB ram etc

    BR,
    Peter

Some people want to do extensive editing, especially from camcorder files, and others want to put their video on DVDs to show to others or just play back on a set top DVD player. You will certainly lose quality with any re-encode, but that's their choice.
