Need help on playing PPT (w/transitions) on TV through USB

Hope this is the right forum for this question

I want to play a PPT with transitions on a TV that we have in our lobby (business). I already have the photos on a USB and it plays on the TV but without transitions. I created a PPT with the photos, converted to "movie" (I have a Mac) and it would not play. I looked at the file formats for the TV and then converted the "movie" to an avi file using DivX. It plays on the TV but lost the transitions.
I would rather not have it playing on a DVD so need USB suggestions please.

Although the photos are important the real reason I want to do this is because we are getting another TV for our outside window to use for advertising. So I would be creating another PPT for that. We do not have that TV yet in case there is a brand that is better than the other. The one we have now is a Samsung.

So:
Can I do this only using a USB?
Can I create this "file" with a Mac?
Is there anything else I could use to create this presentation so it would play on a TV?

The model number of your current Samsung TV would be helpful.

LG might be worth a look for the new TV. LG makes a TV product line for digital signage, EzSign TV, which comes with software to create the signage, and a 2-year warranty. Signage is loaded from a USB stick.

I haven't used PowerPoint for a very long time, and never on a Mac. (I'm PC only, but I try to learn a little about Macs now and then in case my sister's family decides to get one.) When I Googled for information on saving a PowerPoint presentation as a QuickTime movie, I found a tutorial http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/saving-a-powerpoint-for-mac-presentation-as-a-quic.html that said when you insert transitions into the slideshow, PowerPoint only creates a link to the video and audio files for the transitions, and a QuickTime movie made from the slideshow doesn't include them. This might explain how the transitions were lost when you created an AVI file from your slideshow. To get the entire presentation including transitions, the author of the tutorial recommended recording the screen while running the presentation.

Your TV doesn't support the .mov container, but it does support .mp4 and .mkv. There is some overlap between the supported types of audio and video between the .mov, mp4, and .mkv containers. If you have to create a .mov file, it might be possible to copy the audio and video to a different container.

You're asking this and you are on a Mac?! - YES.
Use QTPro or Compressor or Mpegstreamclip to convert - that OUGHT to do it...

If I knew all there was about this I would not be asking what appears to be silly questions!

Streamclip did not work. Did not want to buy QTPro unless I know for sure it works. Not sure what "Compressor" is but I'll search.

The way things are heading I will probably have to buy one of those digital signage components for the advertising TV.
