Hi, it was funny seing one of my old posts!
I thought I was gonna see something that I stated
was good and then be snagged on or something.
I'm glad I didn't. I hate eating my own words...
but sometimes you have ta!!
Anyway, reading my old post brought back some
memories - Dazzle. I still use it!
But, I did notice that many, if not all my VCD's
done with my dazzle usb, came out blocky pretty
noticeably. I guess I should have check all of
them before I was sure I was somewhta satisfied.
Oh well...
As for the s-video. Its just my opion. There's
really no difference!! Unless you're the kind of
person to pick out every minute detail. But, maybe
I should do more tests on this subject (I only done
3 or 4 tests, and i was satisfied with my statement
about s-video). Why go out and spend so much money
on this gold-platted cord, and see no difference
anyway! OK, ...I did this. What a waste!! But,
I'll do some more tests, just to be sure!! feel free
to ask about MY finding on captures via the s-video route.
Oh, and I do plan on making a bunch of VCDs of all my
videos too. I have old, and new videos (not home though).
I have yet to even try it! ...actually, I did, once, when
I first got my ati-tv wonder card. It was pretty bad! Oh,
yeah, I did try a 2nd time, when I got the dazzle usb. It
was pretty much the same quality. ...never made it to vcd
on this tape. OH, the tape was "Star Wars EP 1". For the
most part, I'm able to buy new movies on tapes for $5.00
buks, and sometimes less.
Well, i've done some captures last night. was
trying to get the last showing of DirecTV's Freeview
event: Indo Girls, and BBMak, I think.
As a test, I stopped home for lunch and did an SVCD
(used standard tmplate) of the ending - took
1:30 minutes for a 2,019,742kb file to encode. I have
5 files of this size to encode, and only did one. wow!
When I got home, it was finished. I was pretty content
with the quality. The file size had encoded to 283,404kb
@ 128 for audio (instead of 224).
I would love to see it look as good or better with
XVCD - anyone?
A quote from one of my prev posts:
>> I've test both media and they both play perfect on my
>> stand alone Apex AD-500 DVD player. And, quality
>> was great!! Yeah!!
I guess i stand corrected!! Quality isn't as great as I
thought! Must have ben the source or movies lighting or
something that made me make that statement for that
particular VCD I made, way back then!! I've made a
bunch of VCDs of Voyager, and I'm really surprised at
how much blockness there are! I must have 30+ disks
so far! ...just that show.
Well, I didn't mean for this to be a long post - sorry!
ps: I guess I should update my 'signature'
