I have been searching on here and not sure if what I am reading will help me

I have some video files (not ripped from my own dvds) that I had on a WD passport - that was connected to my WDTV. When I upgraded the firmware - something happened and I lost ALL the movies about 400 gig worth. I used a program to get them back - but some of them are messed up - no audio or out of sync or unable to be read - so I am wondering what program I should use to fix these files (I saw Div Fix) I think that is the one, I just need someone to actually confirm that with me.

    ALSO

I just got some files and tried to play them on the wdtv - VERY choppy and out of sync and looks horrible but they play perfectly on and through my laptop. I am wondering if I need to reconvert these files with something I read about on here (AUTO GK) I think it is I am just not sure If I that is the right program - cause when I read others posts I get the feeling that it is for ripping dvds...

I know I need a lot of help...

sorry most of the files are in AVI format - I would have to run media info on about 7 or 8 hundred different videos to find out what all of them are - I really want them to all be uniform so I am willing to do that if you need me to. I am also willing to
"reconvert" all my files too... I just want to be able to turn the WDTV on and watch every movie I have. I was directed here from one of the WDTV support forums...

PLEASE change the topic subject so it actually says something about your main problem! Just click on the edit button to change it.

    Try divfixpp, better than divfix.

Herein lies the problem. You don't know how the files were made. Perhaps it's just badly-made junk? That's very common. You can't fix crap.
