Can someone please help me, my burner is not writing to +R Media it has been working great
with -R media for years, never tried -R till now. I am using the LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S. I

    firmware installed from this location
    http://www.liteonit.com/global/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=154
Can somebody please help? Thanks in advance.

Any error messages, like power calibration failure? Some drives for some reason just do not like some brands, and in some cases the "+" or "-" actually matters. If you know somebody else that has a dvdburner see if their recorders will record on them.

Nothing in that log jumps out at me. Did you say that YOUR batch of maxwell dvd+r's did in fact work on your friends pc, or that he was using other dvd+r discs?

I have a LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6S and it will not write to Fujifilm DVD+RW discs. It will read from those discs just fine but will not write to them. My previous TEAC and TDK burners worked perfect with these same Fujifilm discs.

I chose the LITE-ON as I wanted LightScribe capability. The only option was to upgrade the LITE-ON's firmware, which I did. However, it still wouldn't write to the Fujifilm discs. I ultimately purchased some Verbatim DVD+RW discs which work fine.

    I won't purchase another LITE-ON burner.

I agree. I've had LITE-ON burners and they seem great at first, but every one I owned developed problems relatively quickly.

What resonably priced burners would you folks recommend?

I have a Samsung burner in my laptop. It's played and burned every disc type I've ever put in it with 100% reliability. So my next DVD burner will be a Samsung.

The problem is likely due to inferior media. Use something better.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the Lite-on burner I have on by backup PC, it has never failed. The again I have never attempted to use a maxwell dvdr since the test one I bought 10 years ago recorded well on my HP DVDR but then would only play on that drive.
