  1. Hi

I am ripping my DVD's to my HDD using DVD Decrypter or DVD shrink as single complete VOB's to stream to my PS3. The only issue is that some of the VOB's will allow time searching on the PS3 and others will not. When I press the button on the PS3 to bring up the file details as it's playing, the ones that do not allow time searching show a length of 00:00 where as those that do show a proper length. Yet on the static thumbnail on the PS3 it shows a correct length.

I've tried ripping various DVD's and some seem to be ok and others not. Does anybody know why this is as it seems like an oddity to me where this info lies in the VOB that some have it and some don't.

    Any help would be great.

    Many Thanks

    Daz

If they are NEW, store bought, Hollywood protected DVDs then you need a new ripper....or two.

DVDFabDecrypter is the newest, still updated ripper. There is a free portion of the program.

  5. I don't think the ripper is the problem, either it rips or it doesn't. Try using FixVTS on the VOB's.
Does the PS3 support DVD folders(ie IFO,BUP,VOB) or ISO's? If so that might be a better way to go, it usually plays better when IFO's are present.

Yeah, it sounds like a timestamp problem. If you don't mind spending a bit of money, consider VideoRedo. You can do a full rip of your DVDs and just use VideoRedo to combine the VOBs into one mpg file while running Quick Stream Fix. QSF is their program to fix time stamp issues and it really seems to be the best at doing that. You can download a fully functional trial version to test it out.
