Layer break issues

I have a 7.8 gig dvd I was planning to burn to a dvd+r DL using imgburn. Img stated it could not find any cells to use and recommended I could fix the issue by splitting cell 1 of VTS_06, PGC 1.
I tried Nero and burned 1 disc I think without any issues, I haven't watch it yet. Nero burned the dvd in 40 minutes at 2.4x, using the first 20 minutes to burn layer 1, and the remaining 20 minutes to burn layer 2. Nero never asked or suggested a layer break position. This is the first DL dvd I've burned with Nero.
Suggestions?

Use VOBBlanker to split a cell and burn with ImgBurn.

I wouldn't trust Nero with layer breaks.
