  3. only when you encode file`s with TMPEGenc 1.2(http://crash.to/Divx-Nederland and save them as svcd files
use nero 5.5 as burning program and burn them for the sony dvd player on a sony cd-rw 650 mb for the first time.i know it will work.

  4. not necessarily so (that you can't get the Sony to play SVCD's)...

It's late and I am too tired to search the forum for you but the answers are here. Just do a search for posts by me and you'll find out what you need to know about "fixing" SVCD's so they'll play on your Sony.

  5. Well technically it only plays XVCDs not SVCDs. Because, if you tried to play a standard SVCD your particular player will say "No Disc". Now if you use MPEG Tools and use the Merge/Cut function and save as a non-compliant VCD it will play the SVCD you encoded.

Of course after you burn as a non-compliant VCD with NERO.
