It appears that my C drive is now a D drive. The C drive is corrupt with funny words and file sizes. The total size is 15 meg and it is a FAT 16.
The D: is not listed as a FAT but the size is 57207MB
How do I get the computer to try and boot to D: so I can rescue my data?
I can not run hijack this or any other program,
    Thanks

boot to a live linux cd like ubuntu, fedora, madriva etc or use Ultimate Boot CD 4 Windows. You can then access your drive (hopefully the data is intact) and save critical data to another drive.

Or you can change your compters boot sequence http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/change-boot-order-xp-vista/.

If you have a floppy drive you can use a dos bootdisk making sure to enable cdrom support.
