Evenin' folks,
A co-worker has one of the latest/newest versions of COD, not certain exactly which one it is, but when he puts the... hmmm... I'm sure it must be a DVD, not a CD... when he puts the DVD into the CDRom, he sees the drive in Windows Explorer, but cannot see the contents of the DVD when he clicks on the drive, it's as if he had nothing in the drive. He's got two disks, and they both do the same, so I doubt it's only one bad disk.
I remember having the same problem a few years back when I got FSX (Filght Simulator X), and if I remember correctly, I had to un-install Nero in order to be able to see the contents of the DVD when I put it into my CDRom. As I said, it's a few years back, so maybe I did something else as well to get it going, not certain.
I haven't had a chance to see his machine directly, just tried un-installing any CD-related software off his machine, but it's not working yet.
Question is, has anyone else had a similar problem, and if so, how'd you get to see the disk in your CDRom? Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

First make sure it is a dvdplayer, then try a commercially released disk, check the jumpers, the ide/sata connection, try (re)installing the drivers, else try installing it in a different computer and see if the same problem occurs.

also make sure the call of duty disc is for a pc, not ps3, wii, etc.....

Thanks guys,
I wouldn't have occurred to me that someone could have a computer running nowadays without a DVD player (considering their ridiculously low price). Well as it turns out, there's a very good chance that this is the case with this fella. As I said previously, I haven't, and cannot see his machine, so I'm sending him to the store with his box, so's they can check for him, and install him a DVD burner if he doesn't have a DVD player or burner yet.
Who woulda thought?
Thanks everyone.
