Ok, here's my video, shot with an HD camcorder, Sony HDR CX100, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1volFZNNL8o and here's one of another guy's video, same camera http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ-Bh2GhMA4 Mine doesn't look as clear as his. I've seen videos of this camera where I don't even need to press the watch in HD button and the quality is still amazing, but mine isn't as good. Is this because of the poor lighting? I got the video from my camera, it was an m2ts file, converted it to an HD wmv file, than uploaded it.

youtube wants avc/h264 not wmv. but, you're kinda out of luck, as that cam can't shoot progressive. i'd try converting to h264 .mp4 with aac audio at 1280x720p with as high a bitrate as you can and still keep the vid file under a GB. around 10mbps should be ok. the hardest part is de-interlacing well to progressive video, use an editor/encoder that uses yadif if possible.

  3. Yes, the low light makes a big difference. That's why it's so grainy and noise. You also have more motion. Both these conditions require more bitrate to achieve a certain quality level, and youtube will re-encode using a low bitrate.
