Hello, and thank you for reading this question.

I am struggling to encode some MP4 files to either DivX or Xvid on my Mac (OS X 10.5.7).

The MP4 files are as follows:
    AAC, Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz
    H.264, 720 x 428 (1024 x 428), Millions

I have been using the preset options (DivX ffmpeg, XviD mpeg). The encoding takes place and I am left with a great looking AVI with no audio and a seperate MP3 file of 0K in size!

I have tried opening the source file in QuickTime, exporting the audio as an AIF file and using FFmpegX to add the audio file by browsing to the AIF file in the audio tab. This did not work.

I would be very grateful for some advice as to how I should do this properly!

    Thank you.

1/ Please post the Process Information log for examination on any errors. You may access this log by clicking the blue "i" in the ffmpegX Progress window after a conversion attempt.

2/ Please note that ffmpegX has four presets to try on this conversion: XviD mencoder, XviD ffmpeg, DivX mencoder and DivX ffmpeg: two video codecs and two encoding engines. The mencoder engine works a bit different from the ffmpeg engine. You could try the ffmpeg engine if mencoder failed you.

3/ If the ffmpeg engine fails with a Codec type mismatch for mapping error in the log, try setting the "invert mapping" checkbox in the Audio tab. This seems likely, as you (QuickTime?) listed the audio stream before the video stream.

Hello, I'm having a similar problem...

I'm trying to convert an mp4 to a .avi file. No matter what kind of Divx or xvid format I use, the file still comes out without sound.

Also, every time I close out of FFmpegX, the binaries become uninstalled. (They're all located in my Applications folder if that helps).

This is the log from the last file I tried to convert:

Also, when I try to preview the file, and find that I don't get sound, I close out of the prview window and this error, which I don't know how to fix, shows up

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: uninit_vo
    - MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
    disassembly. Details in DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash.
    - MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.
I don't know what's wrong... my computer crashed recently, and I didn't have a problem with FFmpegx then. Although before it crashed I was running Mac OSX 10.4 and now I'm running 10.5

Thanks in advance for your help!
