    Hello,
I'm new here, but I have a problem.

I just got a Sony dvd/vcr recorder combo.
    It doesn't have a turner.
I have cable coming in, but don't have a cable box.
Is there anyway to connect this unit so I can record TV?

    Thank-You,
    John

I'm back to ask another question.
If I do need a turner, or I mean cable box to record TV,
would a digital converter that we needed for programs
    back in June work instead?

    Thanks,
    John

As long as the machine has a "Line In" of some sort...you can record almost anything you want on it. If you have an old VCR lying around...use that as a tuner BEFORE the "Line In".

I still can't believe the machine is not capable of recording broadcast television on it's own. I'd break out the owner's manual again if I were you.

An ATSC digital converter would work for over the air DTV with antenna but not for cable. That recorder is intended for use with a cable box or satellite receiver. It should have come with an IR device to change tuner channels.
