Problems Encoding DVD with mpeg2enc

Hi

i seem to have a problem encoding a dvd with mpeg2enc preset on version 0.0.9x r2.

it doesn't complete the whole dvd movie even thoug it finishes the encoding process; it creates a m2v file a mpeg file an an ac3 file. The m2v file 140 kb long and the mpg file like 647 mb long

the audio is intact but the movie shows a black screen

Hello. i used the ffmpeg preset encoding the dvd and works like a charm!

Also tried Visual Hub and had no problems

I also have problems with mpeg2enc. ffmpeg does not give you control over subtitle location. Visualhub does not handle subtitles at all.

You need the mpeg2enc binary from the older .9s version. That will permit you to alter the font, size, and placement of the subtitles.

PM me if you can't find the older binary and I'll eMail it to you.

I have some problems with the download of the mpeg2enc.
When I download it, it is just a .txt file. I don't think it is correct. And after downloadinf it where do I have to put it?

Just remove any extension from the file name. ffmpegX will ask for it when you launch the app so just tell it where you put it (your Desktop, for example), provide your password, and let it install it in the correct location.

If you're talking about the older mpeg2enc binary (and the current one is already installed), go to Library/Application Support/ffmpegx, create a new folder in there called "mpeg2enc(new)", drop the existing binary in there, and then drop the ".9s" binary in its place. Also make a new folder called "mpeg2enc(9s)" so you may swap the old binary out and the new one in as you wish.

By the way, if ffmpegX complains about the older version of the mpeg2enc codec (but you want to use it), just ignore the complaint. It will work. When you swap the codecs back, the complaining will stop.
