Ok my xbox 360 got the rrod (red ring of death) again and I decided to not rma it again. I had done that last year - this was originally a used model but the original used warranty was up so I had to buy another warranty that just ran up. So Instead of rmaing the same unit again I wanted to buy another xbox 360.

I bought a used xbox 360 at gamestop but got the one with hdmi - plus this had a manufactured date of 2008 instead of 2005 as my first 360 was. I did get their one year warranty for instore replacement.

Now my question - I don't have an hdmi receiver but my hdtv does have hdmi inputs. What I want to know is WOULD IT BE WORTH USING HDMI ON A 1366x768 lcd tv at a size of 32"?

I am currently using a hdav cable for vga output to the vga in o the hdtv and it has the fiber optic out cable. I get 1360x768 resolution with the hdav vga cables. Now since I don't have a 1080p set is it worth the 50.00 to get the hdmi adapter with the fiber optic output?

The 360 I got does have a hdmi out jack but it does not have an independent fiber optic jack like my ps3 does.

I am happy with the picture I am getting with the vga cable but am I missing out an a sharper picture with the hdmi adapter?

I won't be getting higher resolution but would it be sharper than the vga cable?

Edit - oh yeah one other consideration - I am maxed out on my hdmi ports and I am already using a 3 way switcher - I'd have to buy a 4 port switcher so I can still use my wdtv media player - though I don't use it that much but would like to keep it where it is.

EDIT 2 - I do use hdmi on my ps3. However that is for bluray movies and I don't believe it will upconvert dvds without hdmi. I could be wrong on that though.... So I know I can use hdmi its just I don't know if it will be "better" for my new "used" 360 over my current setting.
