  3. Is it possible that either of these options could burn out your DVD drive?

  4. listen, everyone on this forum is going to give you their opinion, and you know what they say opinions are like......

i can tell you first hand and give you an unbiased opinion, because i use both methods. dup-dvd is a great program. if you are new to this sort of thing, this is the program for you. however, there is 1 thing to keep in mind. always rip the dvd to your hard drive and use dup-dvd to create the .bin images from your hard drive. dup-dvd is powerfull enough to handle the whole process for you from your hard drive.

also, dup-dvd will not work with all dvd's. you should learn the standard method as a backup for those dvd's that wont work with dup-dvd. trust me with what i tell you ! i had to learn the hard way and did not rip the dvd to my hard drive first. my dvd drive got so hot that it melted the dvd inside of it. my drive was ruined and i had to pay for the rented dvd.

you can simply follow the guides on this site for using claddvd or smart ripper to copy the dvd to your hard drive and dup-dvd can handle the rest for you. if you have any questions, id be happy to give you more info....
